Whats the give away, the legs? When I seen her I thougt ah the new queen and snapped a few photos but then when I went back and looked at them I had my doubts.

Spotted her yesterday, came home from work about 14:45 and loads of activity around the hive. First nice day here in a while as weather has been cooler and wet. This is the supersedure queen from that hive hopefully returning from a mating flight.

No evidence from that pic.

So how does the Queen in a swarm get to the new location...is it some kind of magic trick...[emoji57]

They don’t unless spooked [emoji6]
Virgin Queens don’t lay eggs .
Queen in a swarm are surrounded by bees and can’t be classed as visiting when leaving is the intention !

Moved another half of a BSHoneyBee Nuc into a full size Nuc, pulled the divider and added 3 frames to each colony, and fed them. These have proved very successful in mating this year, I have 5 on the go all but one are now in 6 frames Nucs - where the hell did all these Nucs come from (15)!

Big thorax, reddish legs, but very small length to abdomen. If she is already a supersedure queen? This late in the season you may have better alternatives?

Supersedure Queen is identically reared as swarm cell queens. The Queen lays egg into the cell cups and so it starts. Emergency queens have been fed 2 days less than other queens. Normal queen is fed 5 days.

No evidence at all from the picture of it being a queen, I'd wait for someone to come along who has some idea of bees before thinking it's anything but a worker.

I have killed drone laying Queens and small under developed Queens exactly the same as that Queen..

A bit too wet

Too windy and rainy this morning to do much so I built myself a "candy board" in preparation for wintertime. Next decent day will see me giving a heavy syrup to the July five frame nucleus, now in hive, but not progressed as well as they might and not much at all in the way of forage now, although still bringing in some pollen last week.

Too much rain here too today..... plan on OA vaping tomorrow evening. Question, can I vape through the one floor into sealed hive to save time on doing all 4 hives? Hives are in a sheltered area out of wind. I plan on doing them every 4 days.

Do you mean stack the hives on one floor?
I hope you don’t !

Few days ago we had 33C day temp.., now 13C.. Slight change.. They said it snowed in nearby Slovenia..
I think in last 10 days was raining 8 days.. The ground is so soaked.. even here on the hill.. Today is real autumn rain, steady and continouos, no wind..
Bees were not much pleased to see me.. I had to remove division board from few colonies.. They also looked confused.. smoke not needed..

It was a quote. However, supersedure is often instigated because the queen is lacking in some respect, so not a very good starting point for succession? Also, not all QCs are equal. I am sure we can all agree to that. Keeping the QC warm is also important in making the queen develop property.
