Damn! A lot more than I ever thought I'd have
I've been asked to provide jars of honey as wedding favours . What size jar should I use and where's the best place to get the jars?

Needs to be visual too!

Perhaps a small heart shaped piece of combe in each one?

I've used 4oz hex jars with a "hand printed" neatly tied - with ribbon - label. They're a bit of a pain to fill properly in any significant numbers (I've done up to ~400) and the jars take more than 4oz to fill properly.

Don't underestimate.

Like I did :(

I did some for Stans daughter. By the time we cleared away maybe half were left. I took them back :D
But I got lots of orders afterwards.

Don't be too generous, same as Erichalfbee, found quite a few still on the tables. I used 2 oz hex jars with fabric and lace over the lid held by a ribbon to match the bridesmaids dresses, that also held a little sprig of dried flower. Each place setting had one of these jars and a little bag of heart shaped Welsh cakes.

If supplying on a commercial basis (i.e. not a family member), I'm thinking £3 each for over 50 and more for less quantity - it looks like a lot of work.

Thanks all. By way of an update, my daughter has decided on 4oz jars.

My next question is where best to source the labels? I was thinking of the label that incorporates the anti tamper, a bit like a elongated figure of eight.

Now owing to time constraints coupled with working away from home during the week, I will need to buy them. Can anyone recommend a place I can look at please ?

Thanks H

I have used 1.5oz jars for my daughters wedding next week, they are plenty big enough for wedding favours, I filled 120 of the little buggers. If I can give you a tip, fill them direct from a settling tank, I tried a just and by god your arm aches. I got mine from Pattersons.

Thanks but the question isn't about jar size it's about labels

When I was considering this for small numbers I was decided on using bespokelabels.net no minimum order and they will do custom designs unsure if they will do the label shape you want though.
In the end a friend (a graphic designer by trade) designed our labels and we print our own from it.

I did 200 2oz jars with labels with bride and grooms name and date of wedding on. Then purple ribbons that matched the bridesmaids dresses. Yes fiddly to fill - but fresh runny honey, sorted. Getting labels on straight... not so easy!!
Check out ebay for labels, some good ideas and prices

Thanks Heather

I supply small jars to b and b locally, use a round label cut in half. Print it myself, it fits the jar with the cut edge at the bottom, the complete round label fits on the lid.

Now there's an idea, thanks Enrico, I'll ask if madam would be happy with the label on lid. cheers
