We just dosed the dog with imidacloprid

We just treated the dog with his regular flea treatment as provided by the vet. Then I read the label and one word jumped out at me. Imidacloprid.

I didn't realise we'd been using it for over a year. Does anyone know of any less controversial flea treatments?
