I have vaped my hives three times now, with a small varroa drop the first two vapes. My experience of low mite numbers echoed several posts on here. But the third vape has resulted in a very big mite drop from two of the colonies. The original two vapes were received with the usual louder hum from the hives, so seemed effective - any thoughts?
Carried out vape no 4 this evening - it will be interesting to see the results.

Could it be because the mites you're seeing drop now were in newly sealed brood when you did the first and second vape? I think timing would be right for a big increase in mite numbers and you might just have caught the start of it? Given how new I am, this is only a tentative guess, but if you vaped on the first day after they were sealed and treatments were a week apart, I guess the would still have been in brood during second treatment, but out for third. I look forward to seeing the actual reasons from folk that know what they're talking about!

Hi Beespace - you could be right but it would be a little coincidental to have caught two colonies at the optimum moment? Also it would have been really unusual for me to get something right like that!!!
