A lot depends on the hive stand used. All hives here are either sitting on pallets or 2" off the ground. No noticeable effect of omfs versus solid, but not the same as those big hive stands many run

Mine are on decent height stands too
The few times I’ve put the trays in during the winter Ive had condensation on the crownboards

I tend to put the trays in during the winter but it doesn't provide a full seal so there is always some air circulation in the hive to stop condensation.

Are you suggesting that omf hives over-winter more successfully without a hive stand?

I'm suggesting those big stands 2-3 feet up in the air may give different results but I have never done it so don't know

I did the mite wash in the apiary earlier.
6 frames nuc had 5 mites
1 full hive had 1 mite (the one that dropped 9 after OAV last week)
2 hives had 3 mites

I will treat the nuc for sure and those with 3 mites.
