Hi

I have always used the traditional Grafting method for rearing queens, however i have just brought a Jenter Kit and the process is very vague

I have placed the box in a brood frame but do i put the plastic front and back on the box while the bees draw the comb out?

I would leave the back on as it protects the plugs and the front off while they wax it up a bit for you. Some syrup swished around it will help.

I found in practise that the queens missed out the plugs religiously and I actually ended up grafting out of it to avoid losing the three days wait.

Bit of a faff really esp if you can graft.

OK thats great to know! i thought i would give it a try as i have now brought it! :)
I have been grafting for years and always found it to be fairly successful and thought i would try a different method!

Thanks for the help

Steve
