A search on here tells me this can be done, but can anyone tell me roughly volume of water to use per x weight of fondant?
Assume warm water and plenty of stirring is required?

Thanks

If fondant is 2:1 sugar to water and syrup 1:1, I would have thought adding each pound of the fondant to a pint of water would eventually convert it to syrup. With a bit of heat and some stirring.

There's a little more water in fondant than in granulated sugar.
But not much.
And people talk about 1:1 without saying whether they are using metric or imperial units - and they aren't exactly the same.
Great precision isn't terribly important.

If you said 1.1 lb of fondant was equivalent to 1 lb of sugar crystals, you'd be close enough as far as the bees were concerned ...

The ready made fondant is around 11% water when fresh.
