Surely a beekeepers familiarity/tolerance to stings could be easily explained ( it was to me with regards to the fact that facial stings tend to swell far more.)
When you learn to climb your lead climber does so with far less protection from his falls, this does not promote poor practice in climbing.

Lead by example springs to mind.

But a lead is still connected to a rope which, in turn is belayed by the second.
Our unveiled mate is in affect free climbing a precipitous final pitch he believes to be a v-diff, but has one or two E1 moves at the crux!

Here in Finland we had last weekend the pleasure of listening to Josef Stich from Austria telling us about organic beekeeping in Austria running 350 hives and some hundred nucs. He was only wearing a cowboy hat when working the apiaries and the whole family, wife and couple of children, all without any protection. All wear smiling.

Edit. The hat was for sun and rain protection, he said.

It would be wonderful if we all had bees like that

I think we have all been conditioned by those early years spent in the local teaching apiary- you weren't allowed in unless you wore a veil!

.
When I work with bees, shirt and thousers become soon dirty by honey. It is handy to change a new clothes then.

Yea, like taking your 5 year old up the side of Llyn Idwal in Nike's best waterproof trainers Burberry cap & NO F!!ck176 MAP! :nono:

Years ago, this would have been an example of natural selection.
Now it's just a strain on funds (and employment for the 2nd in line to the throne).

Cmon Llyn Idwal is only stroll from the car park.you hardly need a map for that or more than trainers.

its not going up Tryfan in the snow without an ice axe

There is no crime. What could he be arrested over?

You should understand that the bees in Germany/Austria he is talking about are different to the bees we have here.

Dear lord lol .. so if you walked around your apiary only wearing a cowboy hat would you say that is ok..:spy:

A girlfriend and I were once hiking the Pembroke Coastal Path. The route took us past a pretty cottage where an old chap was cutting the hedge in exactly that attire. The trouble was he was on the road side of the hedge.....It certainly took us both by surprise!

A couple of years ago, Prof Brascamp came to inspect my stock as part of his role as BeeBreed NL Breeding supervisor (https://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/album.php?albumid=751&pictureid=3734). I offered him a beesuit but he declined....so we inspected them without them

I am not saying that everyone has stock that would be suitable for this.
