Interesting the way that different algorithms have their day!

My latest version implies I can get a worst case score of 5 across all possible puzzles if I start with the old stratgey. I'm not sure I can believe that, seems more likely it misses the most difficult actual outcome of trying a word (which it tries to find by a scoring algorithm, this is where the care is needed). I have not worked through the worst case score with the new strategy yet...
More testing required, if a max 5 is indeed true that is much better than managed by other people I read up last year who tried to solve the puzzle (aiming for the same avoid large scores, hard mode) computationally and had few 6 and X results.

I would have got 3 if I'd looked at the list from filter after try 2, only 1 fitted the info I had
OK that was weird, I used same grep methods as normal to filter out words and came out wrong! I did have a pub lunch but....
