Until now, I have only ever used a radial extractor but my wife has offered to buy me a new extractor for my birthday. The Konigin 3 frame tangential looks to be good value, after all I only have 4 hives. Does the tangential work better with heather honey? Obviously a bit more faffing around turning the frames around but some advice welcome.

I would go with bigger extractor for 4 hives, 9 maybe 12 frame electric.
I’d go with radial, get some screens to be able to run tangential if needed.

If you want to extract heather, you will need a way to agitate the frames, or else you could crush the combs to get it out. It cant be spun out radially, and even with a tangential extractor, it needs loosening.

Heather honey (loosened or not) comes out a lot easier in a tangential extractor, but as for most people it's only a fraction of the year's harvest, I advise you go for a slightly larger radial extractor but with removable tangential screens.
You then have the best of both worlds

I purchased the 12 frame radial Konigin and although it wasn't specified on the invoice was supplied with screens that allow me to extract four 14x12 frames tangentially if I require. Mine is only £55 more expensive than the 3 frame electric.
Please be aware that the 12 frame won't fit through a standard door without removing one of the legs! :)

My friend bought a 12 frame kolgin.it won't go through a normal door without taking the legs off according to him!

Should have gone for a 20 frame Abelo radial as they will fit through any doorway.

Does the Abelo radial extract deep frames radially? That was my reason for going with the 12 frame Konigin..... and the price actually :)

In an Abelo (Lyson) 20 frame radial extractor, you will be able to fit 8 deep and 12 shallow national supers at the same time. Just take it slowly at first to spin out most of the honey and the extractor will 'balance' itself out.

Hahaha been there!
Won't fit in a car boot either without getting it legless!
