National
Number of Hives
3 National Hives & 1 Observation Hive.(Indoors) & lots of empty boxes..
Now that I have taken approx half the bees out of my obs hive,,, it has occured to me that I have a nuc with bees, food, capped and uncapped brood, which I dont really have space for...........The two frames I put in the hive were packed both sides with bees.

Anybody in Norwich area need them to top up a weak colony or let them produce their own queen.....
What you can see in the pic is one side of each of the two frames that went into the nuc...
The frames are national but for them to fit in obs hive I had to shorten the lugs but fitted some home made extensions so they fit in the nuc box..

Thanks what I call a strong or boiling over 4 frame colony.

and I could have moved them with having to dress up.....

I took the door/glass off and they never moved.. Didnt spill over or anything.

Just prised those two frames out, fitted the adaptor bits on the ends and put them in the nuc....

in the words of Tommy Cooper.... just like that!!

I wonder if its because they are more used to daylight?

what are you asking for them?
Not given it too much thought. (lies)

Depends on if the box goes with them etc.. or somebody brings a box..

No queen....

Open to offers... Could deliver locally....

Not too far as the car has a drink problem,,,

Thurrock is you pm box full?

i dont think so, ive only got 19 read messages, this is want is coming up .......Dishmop has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.

Dishmop - how did you make the extensions for the lugs?

Reason I ask is because I have a Smith hive and every now and again it would be handy to use a frame from them for my friends WBC or my National.

I have been pondering how to make some kind of extension but never working it out!!

Some old aluminium sheet.... or thin metal that you can cut with tin snips.

Ally is better because you can bend it with your fingers but might bend later when you want to pry the frame out with a hive tool.

Two ways.... as per crude drawing..

A square or cut out the red areas to make a T shape...Bend at dotted lines..

Imagine wrapping a piece of paper around the end of your finger....

That makes sense, thanks for that. Much appreciated. I will call hubby for the umpteenth time today to see what he has hanging around at work that I can beg, borrow or more likely steal.

Thanks again Dishmop.

Forgot... and even simpler way is to screw a bit of metal/aluminium strip to the underside of the lug....

Looks as if these bees might still be for sale....
