There are different methods have been used by beekeepers for feeding honey bee colonies. Some of these methods depend on external feeding and others depend on internal feeding of honey bee colonies. Each type of these feeding methods has its own advantages and disadvantages.

In the external feeding methods, the sugar syrup expose to environmental factors and some insects like ants.

In the internal feeding there is some problems, where the beekeepers have to open each hive and add the sugar syrup to each hive which result in time consuming and extra work.

Also, there are some beekeepers that used to spry empty combs with sugar syrup and subsequently add these combs to the hives. This method also is time consuming and has required a lot of efforts.

The innovated simple method is about feeding honey bee colonies externally without the need of opening the hives. This idea make feeding of honeybee colonies is easy and can be done at any time of the day without any fear of robber bees. Moreover, this idea can be done on any hive size and can help queen breeder in feeding their colonies easily and in short time.

The idea of this method depends on connecting the internal feeder with an external part. This external part allows adding the sugar syrup externally and in the same time the liquid will reach to the internal feeder without any need for opening the hives.

A hole has to be made on the hive side to fix the external part. Also a small cover has to be used to cover the external part to protect it. Also, a small wire net has to be fixed inside the internal feeder, at the connection point with the external part, to prevent bees from escaping through the external part. This external part will be from plastic and will connect to plastic or wooden internal feeder. Liquid beeswax can be used as a waterproof in case of using wooden internal feeder. The internal feeder can be fixed inside the hive by using small nails.

During the usage of this modified hives. The beekeeper first will remove the cover, and then simply will add the sugar syrup through the external part. The beekeeper can recognize the level of the sugar syrup inside the feeder by watching the liquid level inside the external part.

Other ideas which can be done by the beekeepers:
1 - Connecting the external part with many hives together with long plastic tube with slope to add sugar syrup for these hives at the same time.
2 - The external parts and the feeder can be removable which mean that the beekeeper can control in adding these parts or remove them. Also, small tube can be fixed at the lower part of the feeder to get ride of any undesirable liquid.
3 - The modified feeder and associated parts can be made of wood or plastic and can be fit with any hive size.

Benefits of this simple method:
1- This method combines between the benefit of external feeding and internal feeding.
2 - This method allows the feeding at any time during the day (morning, midday and evening) without and fears from robber bees.
3 - A lot of hives can be fed at the same time easily.
4 - Any person can perform the feeding of these modified hives. There is no need of any experience.
5 - The feeding can be done at any season without any problem.
6 - No problem in transporting the hives as the external parts can be removable.
7 - There is a method for preventing honeybees from falling inside the feeder by using the net wire.

The most simple way is to put the feeder box on the hive and fill the box.
The box may be 8 litres or 16 litres. The food goes exactly there where it belongs, and not for example to next door beekeeper's hives.
Bees suck this way 10 litres in 24 hours.

Our professionals use 1000 litre container on the car carry. Then they have a long plastic tube, via which they fill the feeder box. Syrup comes with its own pressure.
