A firend of mine recently tried washing a cappings bowl with boiling water. She also tried tis on a metal sieve. The result, as we all know, was that there is now a coating of melted wax on the bowl and sieve.
I recommended that she tries hot water with a good handful of washing soda.

Any other suggestions??

Melted wax floats on water? Fill the bowl with water, heat well above melting point of wax and allow to cool, remove any foating wax and only then left with a ring to deal with.

The sieve? Place under the water in the aforementioned bowl?

Washing soda or caustic soda are good, the second being very aggressive and requires far more care.

If only a very thin film, stick them in the dishwasher?

Turpentine dissolves wax.
