When they do that to my skin, I gently flick the end of their tails with a finger. Works about half the time.

(Did that on Tuesday night when collecting a swarm, - showed it to the children watching - they were most interested)

The only sting I've ever sustained (up to now, touch wood) was the other day when removing comb from the inside of the inner cover. The girls were furious, of course, and one decided to show me just how much. Fortunately for her and fortunately for me, I caught her before she got her rear end really stuck in and was able to flick her off, stinger intact. She survived and my sting was totally inconsequential. I wondered how common this was but Google didn't show anything up, so I'm grateful for this timely posting!!

Slide your hive tool between the Bee and glove. This works most of the time.
