I am thinking of purchasing a remote hive monitoring system for a hive in our branch association apiary. The idea being that members can see the consumption of stores, and conversely when we have a big flow coming in. Also the timing and impact of the June gap, which was quite bad in our area last year.
A Quick Look on the web and I have seen that are a few around.
I am mainly thinking of hive weight. External temps and conditions etc might be of minor interest.
The site has power and Wi-Fi.
Does anyone have direct experience of doing this. How easy was it to get the data fed onto the web for all to see?
Was it useful, reliable and worth the investment?
How does any monitoring system account for inspections, rain, water absorption of the wooden hive and other things that might spike the weight?
