Yes, an interesting read which gave me the impression that most of what we practice nowadays was already in use well over a century ago, including Porter escapes, Demaree manoeuvre and for me the Jumbo Langstroth which I was taught on and used for 30 years until I swapped to the British National hive. There is occasional reference to beekeepers as 'men' - probably politically incorrect sexism nowadays - but then we on this side of the pond are prone to be woke......

The idea for me as someone that is getting up in age is after this is set up you could move only three or four frames at a time to make this happen , and not have to see the larva to graft .
I all ready use nuc boxes on top of my hives to lighten the load .
and it's something I think a person with little knowledge could muster ,and learn a lot from in just one season increasing there amount of hives at the same time. takes lots of mistakes to gain knowledge think this would make them not as costly.

It looks an interesting read. I'm limited to the number of colonies I can have, but am ordering a copy as I doubt I can cope with reading it from my laptop.

Just a simple generic way of writing for the time I imagine, his beekeeping partner was his sister in law who was said to be a very capable beekeeper in her own right, from memory I think she wrote for at least one of the US journals too. There are a couple of interesting little ideas in the book, I have a copy of 40 years but I believe that it's the same content.
