Apparently the once extinct (in the UK) short haired bumble bee is slowly making a comeback at Dungeness. Interestingly the Dungeness "dessert" where it lives is up for sale for around 1 1/2 million. For those who take their conservation seriously.

A cousin still lives there... in an old railway carriage, also featured on a BBC documentary some time back.... at least it is not battered all winter by North sea gales!... I seem to remember a bee importing business there too?

This is excellent news! I've been following this project for a while now. From what I understand, most of the area is protected, there is only a small part up for sale.

From memory all of the area is classified as SSSI.... you can still own it, but Planning Consent is unlikely ( unless it was for an airport or a nuclear power station!)
