I have new queend in nucs that are under introduction cages. My plans are to go back into nucs in 3 days and check for QCs but then how long before removing the cage to release the queens?

What do others do please?

I've literally just done the same, I was told that you need to release her after 3 days...but if you don't think so then pointers would be much appreciated!! Are you re-queening and agressive colony?

No all new queens into made up nucs. Made up some introduction cages as most say this is the best chance of getting them accepted.

Yes I hope so, fed up with spending money on queen's just to have her rejected!

I have to ask, you are sick of queens being rejected yet this is only your second year? Why the need to requeen at all?

Well I had a colony become agressive after the first year for whatever reason. Also made some splits and just bought some more colonies and one of those is crazy agressive so. Also tried doing some walk away splits but I think I accidentally damaged the QC...it's been one hell of a learning experience this year for sure! [emoji28]

Check after 4-5 days and release is everything looks good. Should have laid eggs. Check back a week later.

Also, to get them out of the travel cages I give them a misting of water before opening it; stops the queen flying off and enough time to safely position the cage.
