Queen hornet or queen wasp ?

Any ideas what this is? Came out my log burner. Doesn’t have bright stripes like a European hornet or wasp and much bigger than a honey bee.

Queen wasp. I had one just like that out of our woodpile. I caught her and let her go

Ditto, I found a drowsy one in the roof of one of my hives when I topped up the fondant.
