Just been checking colonies tonight and one had around ten play cups across the frames in one of them and mostly empty.

Now, thoughts were going towards a potential AS being needed as I found an egg in one but strangely there was a hole in the side of the cell... small hole not like a pulled down QC....
As I continued to check each cup / QC as I came across them every one that I found with an egg had a hole in the side whereas those without eggs were ok.

Has anybody else come across this or know why it happens?

Hi thebhoy,
Very interesting observation. Colony in two minds as to whether they are going to requeen themselves or not? Watch them closely.
Talking about holes. I saw a feeding hole for the queen in a supercedure cell, but it was in the middle of where she would be cutting herself out. Just thought I share that as I have previously only seen it on film!
