- Back down to 1 following wasp invasion
Today, I went to inspect the wasp traps that I had placed out last Monday. I found those that hadn't fallen over were full of wasps and I thank those on here that gave their wasp recipe out.
1:2 sugar/water, a teaspoon of jam and some vinegar in the halved and top upturned cordial plastic drinks containers - lid off.
But in addition to this, whilst inspecting my bees, the wasps were trying to fly into the hive and I suddenly caught a glimpse of a ball of bees flying out the top of the hive. Thought it a bit strange, so watched where the ball landed and then saw that it was made up of two bees, and a wasp, all tangled together and fighting. I managed to chop the wasp whilst not hurting my brave bees. 5 mins later and a single bee is carrying out another wasp.
Amazing to see how they are defending their home.
ps. post number 50!! - House Bee at last!
