propolis loads coming in(photos)

some of my nucs are bringing in a lot of propolis at the moment and was wondering what plant would be yielding it this time of the year.

My bees have also been bringing it in by the bucket load.

I know they like Scots Pine.

Mine like the gooey stuff in the middle of the larger types of sunflower. It's a bit lethal though: I occasionally find a bees that's got stuck there.

Unfortunately they also like the tar which my neighbour used to patch the felt on her shed roof. It's a fairly natural ingredient I suppose, but very black and pungent. They only collect it when the weather is really hot, presumably because that's the only time that it's soft enough.

That would make sence as they is a good few mature scots pines in the area that i know of.

They get another bee to do it for them. There was video shown at our BKA which showed a bee with propolis on its legs bothering another bee to take it off.
