With the latest rangles over Nucs (existing or not) I wonder if there would be any mileage in there being a section were experienced beeks would be prepared to write a review of products they use? I know it would only be that persons opinion but am sure many like me many would welcome an honest opinion.

Excellent idea!

Can I kick off with what kind of swarm attractants you use ?

I make my own Bait Sausages from my Grandfathers famed & failproof secret recipe!

The recipe of which you still haven't posted!

C'mon........share!

Really good idea. There are so many beekeeping supplies companies out there these days it's really difficult to know whether the product is decent.
I saw a company called Bees Knees Hives selling fully assembled nationals with 2 supers incl frames and foundation for a really good price - can't work out if it's to good to be true. A user review would be really helpful.

BKH are based at St michaels abbey, farnborough.

Unlike WPF one could probably assume that they will come good as their business is overseen by a omnipresent all powerful "line manager"

(sorry admin!)

I agree too there are hundred of products out there that are really good and only a few know about them and on the other hand there are far too many not worth a penny
i have a shed full of those it would save members a fortune

I've heard he's tough but fair!

You bl**dy well have to be to keep some of our members under control ;)

I think I should be awarded an NVQ level 1 in kindergarten management sometimes..
Having said that I love the forum and all its users..

Would you care to post a photo or three from your shed?

I think a good idea, though - would there be any problems with libel \ defamation (not that that stops some posters anyway :) ) that would result in admin being held responsible if someone voiced their opinion of a c**p product?

I think that you would need to support reviews with pictures to clearly illustrate failings and fine points. It would also be helpful if there was no personal bias creeping in. Other than that, an honest review should fear no comeback from a respectable vendor/manufacturer.

Would it tend to contravene the no advertising aspect of the forum.

This is a great idea ,

I think collectively we should select a product for review and also choose the Beek to review it.

An interesting concept. Totally unworkable I think. Would you like to hop up onto the couch Doc? This review won't hurt at all, just a little prick, like a bee sting. :icon_bs:

"Which" Magazine doesnt seem to have problems or "Watchdog" on TV.

If you said that in your opinion a product was crap..... manufacturers couldnt do much about it......

some kind of caveat at the head of the forum ought to do it..

"the owners of this site do not wish to endorse any one company however it is felt by the community a place where personal experiences can be shared would be beneficial therefore

or something to that effect..

maybe have to allow another beek from the forum to come and see it in use.. gets a bit complicated then though.. also if something is sold by more than one supplier maybe not listing where they purchased from.. or even for ones that are letting people find it themselves rather than linking direct

i'd love such a section... theres sooooooo many new fandangled things out there (some of them may have been about when i learned i have no idea! my mentor was a bodge it together yourself kinda chap.. i can see he either pioneered or roughly copied a great many things i have seen on websites.. i suspect roughly copied is the accurate description ;p
