This research published 2012 suggests inclusion of probiotics in pollen substitutes has positive results ...

Targeted research, sponsored/funded by who,

The companies who make massive profits selling the same? :winner1st:

Back to human transplant again.

I recently heard a program on this subject and UK doctors are trialling this method but they are drying the transplant material, screening it for bugs and administering via a "Crapsul". It appears to be very effective so far.

I do not understand how could probiotics work. If they work, why not all then use them?

"positive results" sounds good...

So, they are micro organisms which are few to hives. They do many kind of good in the gut.

Poop is all the rage these days...

I was going to start a new Thread but I see that it would be a slight duplication.

I came across this and thought it very interesting, please note that I am not saying you should or shouldn't use antibiotics, some people seem to think just because I Post a link to a subject I must agree with it ? as opposed attempting to enter into a discussion and gain additional information.

Further searching came across these as well, some of them are a little heavier, but if you're interested in this stuff, I hope you like.

Helpful microbes that live in the hives, stored food, and bodies of healthy honey bees enhance many aspects of bee life. Some of the microorganisms produce antibiotics...

You appear to be posting links and asking others to read them and comment..... lazy.
You might get a better response if you informed other readers what those links are all about.

Adult's brains are constructed so that he selects, what has meaning and usefull to him.

Meaning is not to know everything and fill only head with all possible stuff, like with daily murders.

Bacteria in bee's gut? What then? Bees drink water from all kind of sludge pool. It is wonder that they do not die on the edge of pool.

I thought I had, that's what the writing is above each Link.

But your comment is noted, in that the line was probably too short, in future I'll take your constructive criticism on board and add more of an explanation. Thank You I appreciate that.

But for some personal context, I stumbled across this subject / the Links, and finding them interesting I searched the Forum for any extra info. seeing this Thread I thought it would be helpful info. for anyone doing a similar search in the future on the Forum as well, ie: I have found many of the Links in many Threads (which I have not contributed to) very interesting and was only trying to give back a little.

Bacteria in bee's gut?
.

Hi Finman,

the concept of good bacteria in our guts is quite new (most people haven't heard of it), it was only in 2007 that it was realized that our Appendix was a reservoir (storage bank) for our good bacteria in case of diarrhea.
It's only over the past decade that scientists are discovering that the good bacteria in our gut, intestines, etc. can affect our mood (depression), our weight (obesity) and many other things including fighting cancer.
There has been instances of recovery from long term diseases / conditions by populating the gut with good bacteria; bees also have good bacteria assisting them as well - the use of anti-biotics has been shown to reduce the level of good bacteria: Here in Ireland you are encouraged to take a mixture of tablets containing pro-biotics, etc. to try and minimize the harmful affects of anti-biotics. It is believed certain mixtures of foods can assist in maintaining good bacteria.

Oh, one last thing, about your bees drinking water from the "sludge pool", from memory research has shown children growing up with dogs have better immunity than those without, the reasoning is that the dog exposes the child to low levels of harmful bacteria, causing the child to become more resistant to them. So if your bees survive the sludge pool they'll be all the more stronger (so the theory goes), still don't fancy the idea of them doing it though!

There are quite much NEW research about honeybee gut microbia. Look litterature http://web.biosci.utexas.edu/moran/research_dimensions.html

http://www.beeculture.com/honey-bee-gut-microbia/

This article In Bee Culture magazine a year ago DECEMBER 22, 2016HONEY BEE GUT MICROBIA tells,

- that bacteria in honey bee guts around the world is almost universal
- when the bacteria of the gut gets its content at the age of few days, content will be very stabile.

- when the bee emerges, it does not have ready bacteria content.

- the most, which can change the bacteria content is antibiots.

- in USA, where terramycin has been used 50 years, gut bacteria is very resistant to terramycin.

****According these ideas it is difficult to change the bacteria with probiotics .

Health laboratories of USA has researched " probiotic " features, and it reports that there are no evindence that it makes any better to humans.

European food safety authority has banned to use "probiotic " term in food marketing.

"it was only in 2007 that it was realized ".................. Well.... that has been known at least so long as I have lived.
Probiotic term has been used since 1980-

Just to clarify, maybe my fault; "good bacteria in our guts" is not the same as probiotics, I too doubt the claim that many of the manufacturers make about them; "good bacteria" can only be added to us by a fecal transplant, that I'm aware off - hopefully not liquid, but sometimes it is - and yes, that is what it sounds like!

The side point I was making was that medical persons in Ireland are becoming more aware of our microbiome, and now some beeks are too about bees.

Sorry if I wasn't clear with the terminolgy :)

BY THE WAY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Even if I'm two days early ;-)

You have not heard that lack of pure water is biggest problem on the earth.

" when bees drink from sludge water, they are stronger". The research just told that the bacteria in the gut is very stabile, and sludge water does not affect to it.

.... Well, if I have 0.5 million bees foraging water, I cannot control what they drink. Are they stronger or weaker, I cannot help them.

When I calculate together all knowledge, which makes bees shortliving, I wonder how they can walk out alive from entrance: Trickling OA, soyaflour feeding, pure water, wrong race, .....
