Yes.....and seen one....and still know where it is. huge.
 
They were varialbe in the brood box size, it really depended on the person making them.

As posted before I bought mine from a gent in Aboyne who had 100 in his back garden, aka a field really. Supplied Fortnums.

Poly Hive/Hivemaker

Apologies for butting in, would either of you consider polys as a good "first" hive? Costwise they look ideal but do not seem to be suggested on here as a good starter. What and why would you both recommend as a starter?...Dtg.
 
I bought a poly and a cedar hive as starter hives this year - thought I would prefer the wooden one (I'm a bit of a traditionalist) but getting on really well with my poly one.

Its easy to assemble - no need wait for my husband to put it together or explain the importance of bee space when fitting runners etc. and I can store it flat packed and assemble just when i need another super, bb etc

It very light so no issues with lifting

Cheaper than wood

Warmer for bees.

Just saving up for another one or two!
