Good sign?
Not always.......
Today I looked into a split that I suspect is queen-less (test frame in)
It is in a 14x12 10frame poly and eight frames are solid with pollen.

In a similar vein, we checked on a bailey comb change today and the last of the brood in the old box below has now all hatched and they are beginning to backfill with fresh nectar. We gave them a new floor for their 14x12 box and removed the old broodbox and frames, but about half were loaded with pollen

Bearing in mind the comb is 4-5 years old and due for skipping, is there any way to salvage the pollen inside ?

Doesn't help you much but I put a couple of frames of old pollen into the hive, within a day there were loads of pellets of old pollen at the front of the hive where the bees obviously agreed that it was too old and just cleared it out!

Oh....it won't be wasted.
When the bees are re-united to their original queen the frames that are not distributed to other hives will be frozen for future use.....jolly useful to have them

On the subject of pollen, my large colonies have loads in the bottom brood box. I think it is because there was less nectar to be had and therefore they collected extra pollen in the spring. Well, they had to do something.
