Hi citrus yes I would normally have fondant on nucs simply no reason why you should not and young queens will lay late into the season if given the opportunity, consuming more stores. Larger hives are given a block if they appear to be getting low. I really don’t mind additional frames of stores as I will strip them out for nucs in early April. And yes plenty of ivy around me.
