Hi my plan is to prepare the new 16x10 ready to split the hive next spring.
As the weather has been so good I have bulked out feeding with ambrosia although the bees have been foraging like mad even when there has been rain.
Plenty of pollen being collected. My hive has a Italian Queen she has been a prolific layer and the hygienic characteristics have been good.I would like to set up hive 2 with a native Irish Queen next spring can any one point me in who to purchase from.

Devon may be warm, but it is ridiculously late in the season to try and get bees to draw out comb in a new box. Especially a big one like a commercial.

Sorry, but it's a daft move at this time of year.

Instead concentrate on getting enough stores laid down for winter.

/// and I have no idea why you would be feeding Ambrosia "as the weather has been so good".

And why would you want to introduce a 'native Irish queen' to Devon ?.... Some really good Devon Native Queens down there that are proven locally and obtainable .... IF IT WORKS - DON'T FIX IT !!
