Hi all

Just a note of interest (to some maybe).

I did my Oxalic treatment to all my hives today. I run poly Lang mediums.

3 of my hives have ply crown boards the other 6 don't.

All the hives that just had the poly roof with no crown board were as dry as a bone. The ones with crown board (and poly roof) has some mold on the board itself.

Looks like another pice of equipment I can do away with. :D

Wood crownboards usually have ventilation above of some sort. There will be some moisture movement through the board; if any warm damp air can get through (feeder hole perhaps), that moisure laden air will just hang around. It will be warm, so an ideal situation for any fungal growth. I am guesing here that it was the top side that was particularly mouldy?

Regards, RAB
