Like Dritson says, restrict the space. In polyboxes too. Too hard job to nuc to heat universum.

Where in Wales do you live? Where I am, the bees are managing to forrage plenty in between showers. Even my tiny supersceding colony is filling frames with pollen and nectar.
 
I've come home today and noticed lot of bright pollen around the entrance, they must be going out between showers too! I'm close to pontypool!
