There us a field near Hungerford, Berks, looking good - just breaking into flower now!

Jc

6 inch plants on the grass verges at the junction of the A1 and M1 just south of the A64 in Yorkshire (these are a regular occurance as OSR fields were there until the M1 was extended about 15 years ago) Nothing visible in any fields.

Only spotted 2 fields near my bees (including one that they are on the edge of) that have OSR growing.
The other field is still only ankle high and no signs of flowers. The field my bees are at the side of is knee to waist high almost and has the odd flower starting to show.
As per others I have heard that a lot of farmers ploughed their OSR back in due to poor germination.
Glad that my friendly farmer has persisted with the field with my bees in!

Field next to my bees making progress.

Noticed today whilst out working yellow flowers coming through at several different places on the outskirts of Norwich.

Saw a couple of fields coming into flower this afternoon, near a superstore @ BH25

No rape flowing here!

I assumed the rape had been abandoned this year. Last year The fields around the house were all glowing yellow, and the bees were working flat out. I took honey off at Easter!

This year, there is nothing. perhaps like other posters - just delayed?

OSR just back from a midweek break North Antrim coast via Torr Head the road sides are fulll of OSR and just about to flower

No, there's nothing closer to where we live either and even our trees are slower coming into leaf than in other areas. The other day I saw apples trees coming into blossom and hawthorn with leaves. There's no hawthorn near us yet and our fruit trees are still tight buds. I think it's because the ground is still so very wet and cold.

Fields now just starting to bloom in North East Somerset.

Damson tree: in bloom today
Apple trees: just leaves coming out.
Crab apples tree - ditto (normally flowered by now)
Pear tree - leaves appearing.

About 6 weeks behind last year.
Hawthorn - leaves coming out. Normally May sees countryside covered in white blossom.

Rhubarb: about 20cms tall - normally 60cms.

Just back from a 600mile round trip, a busmans holiday up and down the country and only spotted two fields starting to turn yellow, previous years I would have spotted several yellow fields by now.
I also noticed a few fields with what can only be described as failed sad looking crops and plenty of recently ploughed fields.

Driving back from gatwick to wales I saw only 1 field in full bloom today

North Hampshire OSR is just starting to go yellow. The field next to my apiary is about 20% there, so each hive got a super at the weekend. bee-smillie

One field just in flower 2.5 miles south of A1 / M62 junction in West Yorkshire

Reports of some elsewhere in West Yorkshire along M62 corridor, no idea of flowering status. Rest of county mainly just a patchwork of brown fields, cereals and pasture. Some blackthorn now flowering. Dandelions seem to be major source of pollen at the moment.

Photo's taken late afternoon on the 27th April.
This is the field that contains one of my apiaries and tbh is the best of the few fields of OSR I have seen around the area so far.
Approximately waist high with a few flowers starting to show.

I'm guessing after the weather we have had the last few days, where everything is shooting up and sprouting flowers, that it will be more advanced by now.
