Does anyone practice the BBKA recommended method of picking the queen up by her lugs (wings) sticking her on opposite index finger so she grabs her legs around your index finger the you trap her legs with thumb and second finger and then you mark and clip her?
I usually find the simple things like trying to get the cap off the marking pen is almost impossible at this stage (okay perhaps I'm not organised enough).
COT work for me most times..gives me time to sort out pen etc. On a good day you can twist it around a bit and clip at same time...often re-threading my COT.

I mark in a COT but to clip wings I hold the queen on the face of the comb with left hand thumb and forefinger. Only ever had one queen which stopped laying a few days later that may have been my fault squeezing to hard.

Cheer, Mick

At one time - a difficult and cack handed method, if you don't get the leg trapping quite right, off she flips into the long grass - prefer to put her on my thumb then trap her head between/index and middle finger (I think she then settles better in the dark) but nowadays due to eye problems and CTS over the last few years I just resort to COT

well, I have to say that for the last two seasons I have used a one handed queen catcher and found it a great piece of kit, dead easy to use with one hand (as the description) and queen marked and clipped in seconds, not had a queen balled yet and I've probably used it at least 50 times.
I like that it can be locked off and un-locked with a twist of the finger too, such an easy thing to use.

Yes, that's what I do, seems easy enough. I don't clip though.
