Hello. I am living in France, we have just bought a new place with 2 hectares and I plan to follow my dream of keeping bees. I’ll be trawling this site to find out all the info I need before I embark on this venture. Thank you for having me.

Look forward to hearing how you progress.buy a good suit and find someone who will take you through their hives . Not everyone can cope with lots of flying bees! Don't forget that this forum tends to get the problems posted and it isn't all problems! Good luck

Hi,I'am in Normandie, France. I have Langstroth hives, Dadant seems to be the other option locally. I've been keeping bees for about 8 years and have joined a local association and made some like minded friends. I've also given a talk at our village school on bee keeping and the benefits of bees.

:welcome:
Ignore all advice to use National hives in France...:paparazzi:
edit: ditto WBC
:thanks:, hives is something i need to decide on. Do you rate Langstroth? And are there really any benefits to flow hives v traditional?

You might also like to drop Richard Noel a PM (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClFlG4yfKhR2-w9VN_r8M3w ). He goes under the id of Plenty_of_Honey and is based in Brittany.
Good luck with your new venture

Langstroths have been used longer than any other format, so can’t be too bad!!!

Serious beekeepers (especially those that do it for a living?) use them all the time.:icon_204-2::icon_204-2::icon_204-2: Not. Does that tell you something?
