If I recall you ended up with 40kg hives prior to winter. In spring, you could have ended up with lots of honey stores, reducing the space for queen to lay. I had to remove some honey frames tofix that.

Did you have that problem?
No but thank you..;)

Thanks for your generosity guys....exporting your NE windy sea frets to the middle of north Yorkshire. Can see the cold mist drifting down the escarpment face and windy as hell. Not a bee flying.
Overdue inspections this afternoon should be interesting.

Ha, you are welcome Nigel.

Yesterday in Billingham it was 23.5C, today its 11C but still 22C down south, that's what makes the difference. Pity the BBKA don't allow for this kind of the thing when they are writing this month in the apiary articles. LOL

Cheers, Mick.

Them Danish Queens sure do make a difference, i am over the moon , i have just extracted my First ever full super even in this bad climate they have still managed to deliver the goods and they where onto the second super today when i checked through them.

Not a single Queen cell in the hive but load's of drones, i have another Danish F2 to get through tomorrow as i did not have time today but i'm confident that i will be happy what i see.

I started out in June 2015 and during that time in the same place up until 2017 i managed to get around 15lb of honey from the the mongrels and that was in good weather.

Happy times ahead me thinks .
Thank you to all the folk who help and continue to help, if i can help back i will ten fold, not bee wise but i have skills in many other areas..
Cheers
Steve.

The cuttings you gave me are now substantial bushes. Cheers

Them where grown from Seeds D and apparently hard to germinate but the gods where with me yet again on that day ;) , the beast from the east has battered the mother Shrubs but they are coming back pretty good, down your way they should be thriving , do the bees like them (honey bees) bumbles do.
Thank you
Steve.
