No reply needed but had to tell someone. I have extracted this years crop and have, from one super in one hive, acquired roughly 15lbs of honey to go in twenty seven jars. And if I do say so myself, it tastes rather nice.

That's it, post over.

You will also find your honey is the best-est tasting honey in the world and no-one else's will EVER come close to it's sublime taste.
Well done, enjoy and savour, it's a fine moment.

Congratulations, landmark day. Save a jar for posterity (I forgot to) but be aware your bees honey is at best the second best on the planet, my bees produce honey that is better! ;)

I too harvested my first this year and managed about 30lbs from a super. Such a great feeling and the taste was incredible. Well done.

well done and enjoy,
ps don't forget to put some by for Christmas as it goes down well with cheese and wine, nice on ham as well

And do not give it away to everyone. Your true friends will offer to buy some from you. Give them a special – not to be repeated for anyone but them ;-)-rate.

Even after all this time I still remember that first taste of my first honey and nothing has ever come close to the excitement of seeing that trickle appear at the honey gate. Nor the totally wonderful taste.

Right: off down memory lane... LOL

Savour the taste and the memory of your first honey harvest. May there be many more to come.

I remember is the first time I uncapped honey.... the scent filled the extracting room and I was encouraged to "sample" honey from the drip tray under the uncapped frames!

My friend was a retired baker, and on the morning of extraction would bake a fresh loaf. As soon as it was ready to slice, he would cut two thick slices and we would hold each under the honey gate and slather the bread. Delicious. No subsequent years honey will come up to the taste of that first harvest though.
