Had to stop and look and it does look like we have Hawthorne flowers out here on the island. Green leaves and flowering.

Blackthorn (May blossom) is out here ,white flowers like Hawthorn which won't come out for a while yet.

Lots of Blackthorn in flower here at the moment, the Hawthorn (May blossom) flowers during May and often into early June.

I know exactly what the two of them look like as i gather the blossom from both for my Bullfinches in my Aviary ;) , however around this time of the year last year they was one patch of Hawthorn in flower near Catterick on a busy junction not far from the A1, if it was not so busy i would have picked some for my birds.

My part of the world is awash with blackthorn and its glorious white blossom this time of year. If conditions come right, and there is a good prolonged hot period (good summer conditions) this bush is a good producer of the most glorious honey which has a nutty flavor. It is rear, does not happen every year.
