Thanks for posting the video. Summer, bees swarming, birch trees - can't wait. Always collect a swarm your way if possible, quick and simple and bees settle very quickly.

Having watched a couple of hives swarm I was taken by those bees not involved coming and going as if nothing was happening.....
How are the swarming bees chosen? Wonderful stuff.

What paint do you use on your nuc boxes?

I use fine textured sandtex mixed to the colour I want, it helps give me better grip when handling nucs, supers etc.

Here's my contribution to the display of hive stands. This one will take 3 Nationals at a pinch. The modification I made was the creation of the scollops where the hive sits so that you can get your fingers under the hive to do a heft in the winter.

My “no chance for a little mouse” stands

I make metal angle hive stands of about 40-45 centimeters in height. Still no mice observed inside the hives… I use traps though also around hives and normally catch 1-2 a night.
