Went to sort out woodpecker protection and found a stack of unused supers toppled over ( i use it to store a spare smoker and a couple of drawn comb supers and brood box)

I thought at first wind damage Then realised the metal roof had been stolen . Must learn a lesson as the same thing happened last year with galvanised QEs

Beehive roofs.. that because the Dids have already had all the lead off the Church roofs?

Will the new scrap metal laws stop this theft... I somehow doubt it !

Was told a wonderful example of natural justice years ago, in the '50's a relative of ours who owned a limestone quarry was embroiled in a massive fraud involving swindling Government lime subsidy so decided to take a long holiday (paid for by her Majesty), the quarry was immediately closed and lay abandoned on the mountainside with all fixtures and fittings in place.
One day a band of our loveable colourful cheery wandering folk happened to pass ( I think they call themselves Diddy men or something due to the fact that in Cromwell's time they were very adept Pike men) anyway, fixtures, fittings and all ironwork was thoughtfully tidied up and disapperared overnight including a large heavy steel container with two impressive locks on.
Somewhere nearby the same colourful characters decided to chop up this large steel box - it was so well made they had to use acetylene cutting gear - Now in our valley these large steel containers go by the name of POWDER SAFES  Needless to say nothing much was found afterwards apart from a boot and an eyebrow (whether from the cheek or above the eye I know not) And a nice clear area which used to be cluttered with old junk and caravans :D
And they say there is no God!

Sweet but the elf an safety would have a field day now and your relative would once again be wearing arrowed PJ's and compensation claims coming out of his ears.

A Similar incident just up the coast from us, coastal erosion is causing houses to fall into the sea, some traveling gentleman thought that the power cables still there were 'unwanted' and they would clear them up free of charge sadly the cables were still live and both of them qualified for the Darwin award :icon_204-2:

Sorry to hear about this - but stone me, you'd need to pinch a helluva lot of hive roofs to make-up any weight for the scrappie.

You might want to checkout the local printers - see if they have any used litho sheets up for grabs. Made of ally, but very thin - hardly worth pinching, I'd have thought.

Or an old lorry tarp - that should be good for a few years - and definitely not worth pinching.
