It's nearly two years since we lost our 15 year old labrador and we had to wait a while to get another dog ... the latest addition to the family is now 6 months old and has settled in like he's been here forever - where did the bundle of fluff we brought home in August go to ... ? Just the eyes remain ...

That is lovely Pargyle.
I‘m currently watching my dog deteriorate with lymphoma- probably only a couple of weeks left.....
That's sad but you always know when they have had enough. Our old Lab had a brain tumour but lasted 18 months with a good quality of life after the specialist vet told us he probably had 2 weeks left. We still miss him but this pup is a real joy .. we felt we couldn't have another lab after the last one ...

They leave a dog shaped hole that has to be filled!

Heaven is where we go to be with all the dogs we have ever loved. Quite a lineup waiting up there
Ahhh ... so true. We always think of our old dogs at Christmas - they all loved it ... mind you - the turkey leftovers might just have been an influence !

So sorry to hear that Poot :(
I planned to call on my landlord last weekend, check the bees, drop off some candles and polish, it was a beautiful, sunny day last Sunday. He asked if we could postpone popping up as Jack had died suddenly on Saturday morning. He was a lovely little Jack Russell, fifteen years old, I remember him arriving at the farm. He would check the bird feeders for squirrels every morning and he was in hot pursuit when his little heart packed in. He died instantly. Jack would always come to say hello when I went to the bees, I'm really going to miss him.

That’s really sad Steve and must have been a shock for your landlord. They have a real knack of getting under your skin in the relatively short time they have with us.

Thats sad
Iv always loved dogs i had a wire hair Terrier for 17 years my early days from age 7 that girl would meet me at the school gate every day without fail , when a dog passes it can be a big loss

This was Pip who was found dumped in a cardboard box down a country lane. She had about 15 years with us, terrorizing postmen although she loved the postwoman who had the foresight to carry biscuits in her pocket
The way to a dog's love is often through its mouth ... at least to start with until something deeper happens ,....

ohhhh, those eyes. than that reminded when I read a book that in the course of evolution, a dog has specially developed facial muscles to be much more attractive to humans

Oh yes .... they have that ability in spades ! Who can resist the looks that say 'feed me' 'Walk time' 'Is that all I'm getting ?' 'I need to go NOW'..... I've seen them all and more ...

RIP, Missy,
She suffered a downturn through the night and was clearly suffering this morning.
We made the decision and saved her any more pain.FEB1FBF5-48CE-4C84-8D19-F6B64D5F50A6.jpeg
I feel totally miserable.

Aw, it's terrible when they go - we lost our eldest Daxie a few weeks ago (she was 16) had been unwell for a few days, we decided to wait until the morning, she got up went out on the the lawn and just keeled over, died in my arms a few minutes later. It's a real kick in the obejoyfuls when it happens.

Sorry Poot.
I know you and she tried.
Think of the joy and love you both had in each other’s company, remember the spring, summer autumn and winter of her days and smile.
xxxx
