If all goes according to plan*, there should be a piece about the project of putting beehives on the roof of The Printworks, Manchester - tomorrow, Tuesday 27th August, BBC 1 Breakfast programme, around 08:00.

Yours truly is being drafted in as the 'expert' - a myth I shall be quick to dispel!
I just happen to be the only one who has any experience!

Wish me luck!

Dusty

* Of course, anything can happen in the next 12 hours!

Told you so!

Sorry to my many fans who set their alarms and video recorders, but it's all changed!

There's a BBC Radio Manchester broadcast at 8:00;
a Granada (NW tv) item to be recorded at 10:00 (for the evening news I guess);
and a BBC NW evening news piece also being recorded this am.

Sorry about that, guys. Hardly earth shattering!

But if it's any consolation, I only found this out when I got up at 5:45 on my bloomin' birthday!

Can I be bothered to go? Well of course!
Narcissism is a terrible thing in people - particularly when it obscures those of us who are truly wonderful.

Dusty.

Have a good one Dusty.

Yawn and I got up specially :(
Happy Birthday Dusty

That's a shame Dusty. Was up and waiting with baited breath...

Let us know if there are any other schedule changes and if we can see anything down south.

Happy birthday Dusty ... I waited with bated breath down here and all I got was that clown Owen Paterson trying to convince me that he knew what he was doing with the badger cull.

They are not testing any of the badgers culled to confirm they are actually infected with TB and it's a programme that could go on for '25 to 30 years'. Presumably until all the badgers are dead and we are just left with infected cows ....

Then he told us there 'was no legal vaccine for TB for either cattle or badgers'.

He needs to read some of the previous FERA reports.

Sorry Dusty ... didn't mean to hijack your thread !! Have a good time on your special day. Keep us posted on your moment of fame !

Thanks everyone!

Well, that was an experience.

Arrived at the Printworks, to be joined by half a dozen people form a hippy commune near Swansea. They have one hive there, and a couple of really savvy women working it. But all the attention was on one of the blokes, who hadn't done beekeeping before. He - and the group - had set up the bee friendly gardens in the roof of he Printworks.

But all the interest was on this guy; BBC Radio Manchester were first - and we're all over him. Totally ignored yours truly for a while - till I cornered the reporter and had a natter about Who I Am. Then Granada TV similar. But they couldn't ignore the fact that I was doing the inspection bit.

So I sidled up to one of this guy's mates and asked what his background was.

Only turns out to be someone called "Bez" - a pop star fom the 80's, part of some group called "Happy Monday" and second group later.

Well, how was I to know? Never been known to be down and groovy with the kids! Apparently Bez had been something of an inspiration for this Printworks project. And is well known in eccentric circles.

So, it went ok. Just caught a 2 minute slot on the BBC local tv news - in which they did show the Cathedral and gave me about a 30 second slot.

Should be on again this evening and possible a bit on the local Granada news.

Ah well 30 seconds of fame......

Dusty.

Well you made the lunchtime slot on BBC NW Dusty.
You are a natural.
And very handsome too. Shame about the beard.

I hope the thing is a success and wish you all well.

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes.

Granada cut me out almost entirely:

Just my hands and the front of my suit, handling frames, whilst Bez looked on, admiringly.

Sic transit Gloria mundi.

(But I'll make sure she cleans the van up when sober.)

Know the feeling D - four hours of filming edited to 20 seconds just because of the birth of some minor royal! - so this hippy commune - not the Cwmdu lot were they? now they are a weird lot.
And what possible connection can there be between Mondays and Happiness!!
Sorry i missed it all (missed this post last night, and today too busy telling the tired, poor and huddled masses that they can't have a council house and to b**er off back to where they come from to watch any telly) :D

Not sure where they were from, but they were part of a whole string of hippy communes.

Some good ideas, some pretty wacky ones, to my mind.
Lots of stuff about Druids and the language of the trees,
And how Archbishop Justin is an agent of Big Business, brought in to fool the masses (not Masses, you understand). And the Age of Aquarius meaning the powerful will fall, wars will cease and we will all be living in Yurts very soon. And marriage will be dead in 30 years, replaced by free loving relationships.

But I enjoyed time with them. At least they have ideals and are trying to foster understanding, tolerance and a simpler, more innocent lifestyle. And they ask some devastatingly simple questions. We need them.

Just think they didn't quite appreciate me having been wed for 41 years, using proprietary varroa treatments, still believing in Christianity and liking pork scratchings.

Love and peace, love and peace.

Dusty

Well thanks for clearing that up Dusty. I watched Granada and thought YOU were the bloke from Happy Mondays. Must be nice to be a celeb, watch someone else do your beekeeping for you and still get all the attention from the media.

Hey! There's a photo of me and my new best mate, Bez, on page 2 of today's Indie!

Can anyone scan and post it, please?

I'd love all my Forum friends to see what I look like!

Love and peace, love and peace.

Dusty
