It means they make what cell size they want, i believe.

No disrespect intended, but that is the sort of practical observation we need from people who are making "flat" foundation. Sorry to hear you are laid up at the moment.

I find the bees i have do exactly the same on molded wax foundation, regardless of weather it is worker foundation i still see plenty of drone brood scattered here and there, surely they will make cell sizes of all kind to suit there need's regardless of what we put in there.
 
Apparently it can also be brittle and tough? Only what i have read though as i have not tried it.

Here is hoping to a fast recovery, from experience there's nothing worse than being layed up with a head full of chores to do..;)
 
I quite like the info from that fellow, he makes his own rose hives and keeps his bees in quite a few of them.



I subscribe to that chap. He's very inventive.
