made 4 ekes the other day....different sizes...two of which i will go on to make into clearer boards

but, for clearer boards am finding the ply hard to get or very expensive..

any ideas?

What is the best thickness of plywood 6mm, 9mm or thicker?

Ply will tend to delaminate. Use wood.

An off the wall idea - a stout piece of cardboard, precisely cut, and covered in kitchen foil probably with a rhombus clearer. Or a piece of correx (estate agents/political party signage)

Use pallet boards and you can choose your desired depth. I use a little square block in each corner glued in to keep the whole eke square and at virtually no cost.

I keep colonies at a major woodyard that imports wood from Latvia for decking. Their cost prices have gone up 40% in two installments in the last year. At least the seconds skip is a useful source for my needs.
As above - expect further price rises and shortages.

I mean just take a pallet apart and use the timber from those. Great for roofs as well.

Nobody 'just' takes a pallet apart. If you haven't done it before, it's worth looking up a few videos for some possible ways to do it.

I'll bring my nail bar, mallet, small crowbar and claw hammer.
They do take some taking apart.
