Just a quick query. On the Maisemore ploy nuc,on the blue disc at entrance is the slotted entrance also a queen excluder???
 
Yes - but check they've sortged the spacing issues now - on the early poly nucs the queen excluder wouldn't leave workers through either.

Now you mention it, I was supposed to check myself, been busy painting them all but not once did I remember to check the gap size when I had them apart. :blush5:
 
It's a brand new hive, would that make a difference??
 
Just measured mine which were collected at Tradex, looks to be 4.7mm.
Though as JBM said, I haven't had to use one yet.
 
A little tip - whichever setting you're using, secure the disc with a drawing pin as it can loosen up with time and move about, thus altering the setting

I found the total opposite on my Paynes. My bees love propolis so much that anything that moves is glued down, entrance disc included. Strange creatures....
