Maybe a common mistake at this time of year...?

Popped to shop to get some sugar for some syrup making. Was gone maybe an hour.

Returned to find I'd left my beek-kit shed door open...what a party and what a racket. Hundreds of girls after my stored dry supers (not as dry as I thought)...

Anyway...I've cleared all my gear out and anything with a hint of honey is all under wraps and out the way. Commotion mostly died down...But of course now I have clusters of bees in nooks and crannies, windows and what have you....

Anyone any tips on how to clear them out?...I was going to try and smoke the place but before I do thought I would check with you guys....

Well...feel I'm talking to myself.

In the time its taken to write this, they've all but cleared out. A few tail enders mooching about but they'll be gone by nightfall...

Obviously hungry...wheres that sugar?

PS Hives a good 30 feet from shed but will be a bit vigilant for robbing now....

Another lesson....

I've only just logged on.
I would have said leave the door open till dark and they will be gone.....
Redundant now

Thanks E..doing exactly that...few stragglers still there.

Did something similar last weekend. Drove to the bees to feed. Took back a few empty supers. Drove home. Couple of hours later, the rear of my car was 'swarming' with bees - both inside the covered back of the pickup, and outside. Not my bees though - too far for mine.

So, drove off very gently up the road with the bees following - like the pied piper. Went over a few roads, closer to where the bees were coming from (I think I know where their hives were), and opened up the back. Most flew out and away, back home.

Drove back home, and found a load of bees waiting for me to come back. Even though I parked away, they quickly spotted the car, and came rushing. So left them to it until dark, then washed the back of the pickup down to get rid of any lingering smell.

Mad isnt it? They are like little flying zombies, instead its your sticky supers they want rather than the flesh off you and the family ...you can have your own Walking Dead episode where you win in the end...
