I don't know if it is just this area, but there seems to be massive amounts of ladybirds around this year.
 
not seen any yet :(

Couple of butterflies have woken up though:D
 
Yes, very large numbers overwintered on the allotments this year, every nook and cranny was packed with them. Nearly all native 7 spots, very few harlequins about last year or so far this year.

Hoping for a good year for broad beans then. Most years the ladybirds take a while to build numbers and the blackfly get a head start.

Also saw 3 kingfishers on Sunday and they seemed scarce last year
