Are there palatable types of ivy i filled a jar from a frame six people have tried it two really liked the taste the other 4 found it acceptable nobody said yuk all were asked for honest opinion just put 4 full supers of ivy honey under brood boxes i think i will extract another 4 supers of ivy even if i use it to make some mead.

I use about 1/3 ivy to 2/3 oilseed rape to make a beautiful soft set honey. its cuts down on the strong taste of the ivy and puts a bit of flavor to the rape.

One of the members of beekeeping group regularly extracts ivy honey, which most people find is "an acquired taste" when fresh but he has found that, if left in bulk for 18 months to 2 years, it mellows and exhibits a strong but pleasant flavour with no strange aftertastes.
