I'm very limited on knowledge about beekeeping but I know never to leave any frames/honey or even SS at entrance of a hive. Your asking for trouble with robbing from other bees or wasps.

so I have about 5 frames that need a home.

Capped, they will be OK popped into something rodent proof and left in your shed ready for feeding to the bees if we get a pants spring. Or you can store them in the freezer.
