Can anyone identify this tree, shrub or bush!

It's not looking it's best at present after the wind and rain, and it's started shedding it's pale white flowers, which flower in the spring.

and then the leaves turn a golden red all year.

It's approx 20ft high, covered in blossom, but does not seem to attract any insects that I've noticed.

Sorry, misread 20 ft as 200 ft.. Believe magnolias were around before bees so pollinated by various other insects. On holiday in Turkey at present so no access to reference books!

I'm not sure it's a magnolia, I've seen a magnolia stellata, I think these flowers are different, and more of them, in clusters.

This only has 5 petals, per flower.

Looks like a type of Shad bush, Serviceberry.

Bit on TV about magnolias recently and as you say, they evolved without needing to be pollinated by bees.

Amelanchier possibly Laevis or Lamarckii. Hivemaker was spot on with serviceberry.

Serviceberry? I never heard it called that. Like it though. Services nature, nectar in spring for our bees and berries for the birds in autumn. :)
