Some of the editing of 'trade' names is done by posters in order to maintain the ethos of the forum being a non-commercial site ... as far as I know it's only a few websites that are automatically starred out.

"Thornes" is the biggest commercial beekeeping equipment supplier in Britain, and "piss" is a bodily function, and the forum aims to remain free of commercial advertising, hardly stunning IMO.

That this thread (and others in a similar vein)has run on is just an example of how the forum gives many, including myself, a lighthearted diversion from the daily grind. I suppose it could be irritating to some, but the wonderful thing about it all is there is ample opportunity to vote with the mouse and simply not read, or get drawn into, anything the reader does not wish to.
Apologies to anyone with a faulty mouse who is denied the choice to move on from any of the inane nonsense, but otherwise the choices are clear, dont read at all, read some posts but not others, read all but lurk on the sidelines or read some/all and contribute anything that comes to mind, and of course there is always the "report post" button to use if you find any of the posts offensive.

Right- I have the tin hat on! I know that we are non-commercial but we all, or most of us, buy from bee equipment suppliers at times and I can't really see the harm of allowing such companies to advertise, in a specified place within the forum, and pay for the privilege. Members would (if they chose to frequent the designated thread) be aware of the latest sales and offers and I can't really see what harm can come from it. Then at least we can stop this ridiculous need to use part/asterixed/smilar names for what we all know as the commercial sellers that we are not allowed to mention...It's crazy!
