Recently I'm sure I read on there that you can just wrap them in plastic for a few days before extracting if required...? Assuming that is correct. presumably a bin liner around the entire super (obviously not still on the hive before anyone says) would suffice? Or are there other / better ways?

No need to wrap. Just store them in the supers somewhere warm and beeproof.
Thanks for that. Although I only need to store for 2 to 3 days, out of interest what a the maximum reasonable time you could store for?

Depends on the honey. You don’t want to risk it granulating in the comb. Weeks? Months? If it’s capped it won’t go off. Remember also that warm honey spins off much more easily

Also remember that uncapped honey will absorb water from the atmosphere. That's why I use buckets with sealed lids for bulk storage. A couple of days in this heat will be fine.

So I'm beginning to run out of big buckets and small buckets, could I just keep a un-extracted super in the garage for a few months?

might have crystalised by then, just order a few buckets online, they'll be with you in a few days

What about leaving the super with capped frames on the hive until ready to extract. Would this be an option and if so, how long before you need to remove.
I’m assuming that the stored honey will remain with the bees until they’re in need of the nectar.

Yes but honey will crystallise even in the hive. You have to consider this.
I tend to leave my extraction till August and spring honey, including dandelion is still ok.
